A soda machine at the Cha Cha Ocean View Junior High School was set on fire last Tuesday, prompting a security guard to notify police.

Police report showed that a security guard was on his way to secure the flags at the flagpoles when he noticed smoke coming from the machine, located by the school cafeteria. He proceeded to the machine and saw that it was engulfed in flames. He immediately got a bucket of water and doused the fire, then called the police.

The incident was classified as an arson case by Fire Investigator Derek Hocog, who indicated the fire was deliberately set. The case is still under investigation.
