…as well as San Antonio Head Start
The San Antonio Head Start children celebrated their exit from school yesterday morning with a graduation ceremony at Pacific Island Club’s Charlie’s Cabaret.
San Antonio’s Central Parent Involvement Committee president Mary Jane Fleming kicked off the ceremonies with a brief speech, where she praised everyone for a successful year.
In a unique turn of events, TSA acting training coordinator Fausia Dela Cruz, who was at hand to see her daughter graduate, also gave a brief presentation to the parents, giving them useful information about the checkpoint at the airport, and tips to ensure their safety while they travel.
“TSA is very involved with the community. They go out to each school and do presentations for the students and the teachers,” Dela Cruz said.
With just enough time to prepare, the children went up the stage to receive their certificates. Head Start instructors Erlyne Elewel, Rita Carreon, Jessica DL. Guerrero, and Maria Mendoza handed out the certificates to the 40 kids.
The children also performed a dance number called I Think We’re Alone Now, prompting excited parents to crowd the front of the stage, taking pictures.
Parents were also presented with certificates in recognition of their hard work and commitment to the school. (Cassie Fejeran)
