Garapan Mobil station to get new look
The Mobil gas station located on Middle Road, Garapan, will get a new look as renovations at its retail outlet, together with a Mobil Mart mini-grocery store, is expected to be completed this summer.
New owner Augustin K. Castro said during the new management grand opening last Friday afternoon that the mart will be remodeled to attract more customers.
“The idea is to attract more customers,” he said. “We’re going to make changes and remodeling in the mart and bring in more products.”
As part of celebrations for the new management takeover, Castro said the mart will feature discounted products during the entire month.
Castro, who started work at the station as a gas attendant in the 70’s, took over as its new owner on April 1 this year. His PCC Corp. has already been successful in running the Mobil station in Koblerville.
“We’re grateful that Mobil gave this to us,” he said. “We were first given control of the gas station in Koblerville to start off and everything went well. It’s a service business. We like to serve the community. This is a good opportunity to start,” Castro said. Hopefully, we get most of the customers through better pricing.”
Castro’s uncle, Frank C. Castro, owned the gas station then on the space where the gas station is now. In the early 1980s, the uncle relinquished ownership of the establishment and sold it to another company.
The establishment, equipped with 10 pumps, is the biggest Mobil gas station in the CNMI and the second biggest in the entire Marianas. (with John Ravelo)
