PFC Jon Christopher Pangelinan Abraham was among 200 graduates who earned the right to be called “infantryman” of the U.S. Army’s Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment out of Fort Benning, Georgia, during a graduation ceremony on May 7.

The only son of Dr. Isamu and Mrs. Tee Abraham, PFC Abraham endured 14 weeks of intensive and rigorous training, which he described as “extremely challenging.”

“The physical part was tough since I sustained a hip injury during basic training, but the mental part was just as tough and even intense. I probably wouldn’t have gotten through it all without the encouragement of family and friends,” said Abraham.

Witnessing the ceremony were his parents and sister, Michelle. Also present on behalf of CNMI Resident Rep. Pete A. Tenorio was Jody Abraham, PFC Abraham’s older sister.

Tenorio conveyed his best wishes in an email: “On behalf of our people, I congratulate you for your willingness to contribute toward our nation’s and our people’s security. Rest assured that we are forever grateful for the sacrifices you’re making and wish you the best.”

PFC Abraham is currently preparing to leave for his next post in South Korea.
