An intoxicated man allegedly choked his wife in front of their 5-year-old daughter at their residence in Susupe over the weekend.

Abelardo Miranda Magno, 33, was arrested for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. He was taken to the Superior Court for bail hearing on Monday afternoon. A $1,250 cash bail was initially imposed for his temporary liberty.

Police reports state that a police officer responded to Susupe on Saturday at 5:32pm after receiving a call about a domestic violence incident. The victim told the officer that Magno pushed her head and choked her in front of their daughter.

At the time, the girl was crying and allegedly told the officer that her father pushed and choked her mother.

The wife managed to get away and run to the neighbors to call for police’s help.

The wife said that Magno also punched her before in the face, but she never reported the matter to police.
