Bantamweight belt up for grabs in ROP 12

Undefeated fighters, Mark “The Dark” Nuique (7-0) of Trench Tech and Zalaka’s Joe Duenas (4-0) will dispute the bantamweight championship when Rites Of Passage 12 “Unstoppable” takes place on April 20 at the Royal Taga Ballroom of the Saipan World Resort.

The Nuique-Duenas duel is only one of the 15 fights featured in Trench Tech’s offering for this month. A Guam versus Saipan grudge match is also in the mix, featuring Spike 22’s Ricky Camp (3-0) and Marianas Elite’s Vince “Vincesanity” Pua (4-0) at the 150-lb class.

Also on the list are Trench Tech veteran Fasi “Quick Draw” Jesse (8-4) vs. Lights Out Gym’s Ryan Toves for 145-lb bout and the finale heavyweight main event between Trench Tech’s Mylo “Bam Bam” Lassiter (4-1) and Gum’s Pete “Big Mac” Miyasaki (1-0).

Other MMA matchups include Countershot’s Josh “The Hedgehog” Alvarez (8-5) vs. “Tabi” Jay Muna (4-13) at 125lbs; Trench Tech up and comer Vince “The Clinch” Masga (2-0) vs. Mariana Elite pitbull Derrick “El Pelegro” Rangamar (5-8) at 145lbs; Countershot’s Aaron Magbuhat (1-0-1) vs. Tinian Zeng Zung’s Pete Cepeda (2-1) at 150lbs; Tinian independent fighter Ton Borja vs Trench Tech’s Seong Ho Chung in a debut at 145lbs; and Trench Tech’s Ronald Hermosilla vs. Zogai’s Brandon “Commotion” Camacho (0-1) at 145lbs. Josh “Chaos” Duenas (2-3) is also expected to appear in ROP 12, but his opponent is yet to be determined.

A pair of boxing exhibitions kicks off the action in “Unstoppable” with Zalaka veteran Zac Reyes welcoming Guam’s Countershot newcomer Julius Yangetmai in a 170-lb bout and Trench Tech’s Juan Lansangan (1-0) battling another debuting figher, Lusion George of D.A.T. Gym for the 145-lb fight.

Four K-1 kickboxing matches are also scheduled in ROP 12, starting off with Countershot’s Jared “Smiley Face” Santos (0-1) versus Zalaka’s Jordan Manglona (0-1) at 120lbs and followed by Guam Muay Thai’s Jeremy “Pacman” Javellana’s debut against Trench Tech’s Tavita Lueta (1-0) at 140lbs, Guam Muay Thai’s Justin “JD” Dizon (0-1) over Danny Agulto at 140lbs, and Zeng Zung’s Regino Mundo (4-0) versus Guahan’s Sonny Chargualaf at 145lbs.

Female boxer Gianna Sarusal of Guam’s Lights Out Gym is still in search for an opponent at 130lbs.

ROP 12 tickets will go on sale next week at Tha Trapp Urban Boutique, Docomo Pacific, Boarderline Skate Shop, and at the Trench Tech Gym on the seventh floor of the Marianas Business Plaza. Tickets cost $20 for general admission and $30 for VIP seating.
