CULTURAL CENTER ACTIVITIES
The Rota Chamorro Village Cultural Center is offering free lessons to Chamorros and Carolinians on Carolinian dance, bead making, and putut. The lesson will be from 1pm to 4pm at the DCCA compound tomorrow, March 31, 2012.
On Tinian, the Tinian Chamorro-Carolinian Cultural Center is offering free lessons to Chamorros and Carolinians on making alåguan, basket weaving and labatoriu this Saturday at the Tinian Senior Citizen Center Pavilion. The lessons will start at 9am. Bring your children so they, too, can learn the traditional ways of the Chamorros and Carolinians.
On Saipan, the Chamorro-Carolinian Village Cultural Centers Headquarters is offering free lessons to Chamorros and Carolinians on making kkol (pounded breadfruit), finadenni’ dinanchi, and pandanus weaving this Saturday. The lessons start at 9:30am and are held at the Saipan Chamorro-Carolinian Village Cultural Centers Headquarters at 1213 Capitol Hill Road, across the Workforce Investment Agency and next to the Board of Parole Office.
All these activities are offered by the Association of Native Medicine and Culture, in partnership with the Community and Cultural Affairs Office (Rota and Tinian), and the Indigenous Affairs Office (Saipan), and funded in part by the Administration for Native Americans.
