The Ol'Aces' Virgil Secharmedal fires home a pitch against the Bank of Saipan Red Sox during their Major League game last weekend at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield. (Walter Sutherland)  The Robert T. Torres Law Offices’ Kagman Little Legals defeated IT&E, 8-5, at the continuation of the regular season of the Saipan Little League Baseball over the weekend at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.

Quinton Deleon Guerrero scored a pair of homers against IT&E to hand the Little Legals their first win in seven games.

The Little Legals surged ahead, 4-1, after finding life in the third inning.

They quickly loaded the bases off a pair of leadoff walks and an error that set up a pair of two RBI base rips by Deleon Guerrero and Pedro Maratita. IT&E’s run came from an RBI single by Steven Goodwin in the bottom frame.

Deleon Guerrero left the yard off a solo blast to start the fifth, but IT&E roared back to knot the game at 5-all in the bottom half of the inning off a pair of RBI base hits by John Auther and Elijah Villar and a two-RBI triple by Matt Kapileo.

The Little Legals were not discouraged however and struck back again in the top of the sixth with an RBI double by Jeffrey Castro that scored Jose Camacho and another two-run homer by Deleon Guerrero.

Little Legals starting pitcher Vincent Ogo remained steady on the mound and secured the win in the clutch. He gave up three earned runs off seven hits, three walks, and a hit batsman with seven strikeouts in six innings.

Deleon Guerrero batted 4-for-4 with five RBIs and one run. Auther batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run for IT&E.

In other results, the San Vicente A’s defeated the As Matuis Twins, 6-2 on Sunday; while on Saturday, the IT&E Ol’Aces bested the Bank of Saipan Red Sox, 7-3; the Rep. Joseph P. Guerrero Dandan Comets routed ITE, 12-2; the Natibu Sports Association Tanapag Falcons pelted the Natibu Tanapag Braves, 13-4; and last Thursday the DPS Dare Program JPO Enforcers rolled over McDonald’s, 16-4.

As of yesterday, the current standings show the Comets (7-0) atop the 12-team leader board and the only unbeaten team in the field. The Enforcers close behind in second with their 6-1 record.

The A’s are in third place with five wins and two losses, while the Twins (5-3), Pacific Amusement’s Rays (4-2), Ol’Aces (4-3), IT&E (4-4), Falcons (3-3), Red Sox (2-7), Braves (1-5), Little Legals (1-6), McDonald’s (0-5) fill in the rest of the order.

The A’s assumed control, 3-0, in the third inning. Nathan Nogis led off with a single and later stole the dish, while the other runs scored from errors.

The count shifted to 4-2, in the fourth inning because of some wild pitching and infield bobbles from both teams. The A’s nailed up their last two runs in the top of the sixth off another error and an RBI single by Manny Villagomez.

Nogis batted 3-for-4 with three runs; Christian Lizama swung 3-for-3 with a run, two stolen bases, and a base on balls. Lizama also received he nod as the winning pitcher, allowing a pair of unearned runs off just two hits with six strikeouts through six innings.

Ol’Aces 7, Red Sox 3

The Ol’Aces overcame an early 1-2 deficit from the first two innings with three runs in the top of the fourth inning off some costly errors with two outs.

The Red Sox managed to get a run back in the bottom of the fifth from a wild pitch, but the Ol’Aces’ Virgil Secharmedal cranked a three-run homer to start the sixth and held strong on the mound for the final three outs. Jimmy Kaipat and Tyler Flores came around to the plate with him.

Secharmedal stepped to the rubber early in the second inning and notched 15 strikeouts. He gave up an unearned run off three hits in five innings.

Comets 12, IT&E 2

The Comets’ Aurel Mendiola led off with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning and his team piled on six more runs in the second frame off three hits, three walks and a couple fielder’s choices. Comets’ Edwin Cruz also stole home in the mix.

The Comets then threatened to end it early with four more runs in the third inning from some extra throws around the infield. They went on to add another run in the fourth inning from an RBI single by Mendiola and held IT&E to just two runs in the final stand.

Mendiola batted 4-for-4 with two RBIs, three runs, and two stolen bases.

Enforcers 16, McDonald’s 4

Some McDonald’s pitching woes early in the game allowed the Enforcers to score nine runs.

Then Enforcers’ Kier Agda led off the bottom of the second with a single and scored soon after a wild pitch. Shakobe Rangamar reached on a fielder’s choice and was driven home by Korey Leon, who made it home later off an error. The Enforcers knocked their second pitcher off the mound mid-way through the frame.

McDonald’s managed only runs against Enforcers hurler Travis Camacho. It mustered two runs to start the match and then a run in the second and third frames before sputtering out in the final stand.

Meanwhile, the Enforcers poured on four more runs in the third inning as they cruised to the easy win. Camacho gave up three earned runs off two hits, seven walks, and a bean ball with seven strikeouts in four innings.
