POLICE BLOTTER
Old man accused of child abuse
A 10-year-old Filipino boy was admitted to the Commonwealth Health Center Sunday after he was allegedly attacked by his stepfather.
Police reports indicate that the child came running to a neighbor’s house early morning of March 18 with a bleeding nose, claiming his adopted father had hit him.
The neighbor told police the boy was also spitting blood.
The suspect, a 79-year-old Chamorro male from San Roque, reportedly got upset over a long distance telephone call that he had tasked the little boy to place for him.
Police records reveal that the minor performed the task as he was told, only that the Guam line he was calling was not answering.
Upset, the stepfather allegedly picked up a can half-filled with cream milk and smashed it on the boy’s lower body area.
The boy sustained a bleeding nose as a result of this, police said.
In a police interview with the boy’s mother, she admitted it was not the first time her husband has laid a hand on her son. It was also learned that it had been three days since Sunday that the boy suffered a nose bleed.
The boy was transported to CHC for examination.
But police has yet to arrest the suspect, who is reportedly suffering from a severe illness.
Lady, dogs attacked
An elderly woman fell victim to an assault right at her very home Friday night, police said. Even her two dogs were not spared the ordeal.
According to a police interview with the victim’s son, Venusto Mangarero said he had found his mother, Rosa Elameto, with bruises on her stomach and arms when he got home late Friday evening. He also found their dogs bleeding on the mouth.
Beside the dogs, Mr. Mangarero claimed he had found several metal and plastic pipes. He added it was not the first time this kind of incident had happened to his mother.
It was not clear to police what kind of scenario Mr. Mangarero was trying to paint with regard to the real events that took place that night.
When police arrived at the victim’s home to investigate, Ms. Elameto refused to disclose any information. She reportedly just sat at one corner, unresponsive to authorities.
Police records show that the lady sustained bruises on her right elbow and on her belly area.
A neighbor who happened to be at the area told police she knew exactly what went on at the Elameto household, but also refused to share her knowledge at that particular time.
Police are digging deeper into the circumstances behind this assault incident in San Jose.
