Disagreement over money between a Chalan Piao couple ended up in violence Tuesday. But this time, it was the suspect who called for police assistance.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes reported yesterday of an assault and battery case at the Shoda Apartment compound that was called in by a Filipino male suspect by the name of Neil Udutohan Cuto.

The 28-year-old man was nabbed by police on complaints that he choked his girlfriend, Robelyn Vinluan, on the neck.

While admitting to the act, Mr. Cuto, however, denied allegations that he started the whole argument, saying that it was Ms. Vinluan that initiated the fight.

In an interview with police, the suspect claimed he tried to avoid the confrontation by ducking and pushing his girlfriend away from him.

For her part, Ms. Vinluan testified to police that she had been arguing with Mr. Cuto about financial assistance he was supposed to provide for her and her mother which was six months overdue.

Police records show that the victim sustained bruises on the neck and an injured ear.

The suspect was arrested for assault and battery charges.
