Man nabbed for alleged sexual abuse of child
Superior Court Associate Judge Timothy Bellas has authorized the immediate arrest of a 29-year-old Filipino male based on complaints that the suspect sexually molested a minor last March 11.
Mr. Bellas issued the arrest warrant late Tuesday night to enable police to legally detain suspect Edwin Ponce otherwise known as “Bong” who is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Filipino girl from Puerto Rico.
Mr. Ponce reportedly resides on the same village as the victim.
According to police reports, the victim’s mother had testified that Mr. Ponce last Sunday knocked on her daughter’s bedroom door, claiming he had a message for her.
When the door to the victim’s bedroom cracked open, the suspect allegedly jumped on the young lady and forced sexual intercourse on her.
Police records reveal that when the female minor was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center for examination, she was found suffering with internal injuries.
A $100,000 cash bail has been recommended by complainants for the temporary release of the suspect.
Earnings stolen from restaurant
A whole-day’s worth of earnings was swiped inside Saipan’s famous for ribs restaurant at the La Fiesta Mall yesterday amounting to over $16,700 in dollar bills and change, according to police.
Authorities are investigating the burglary incident at Tony Roma’s in San Roque where suspects reportedly trashed even the manager’s office.
The stolen cash was allegedly seized from inside the safety box which was forced open, police said.
The Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Bureau is on to the case.
