The Marianas Visitors Authority, in cooperation with Continental Airlines, recently celebrated “FIESTA MARIANAS” to commemorate Continental Airlines’ resumption of the Nagoya-Saipan direct flight service, scheduled to begin on April 1.

The event, which was held at the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel, was attended by more than 350 travel and media professionals. Visitors to the event were treated to authentic Chamorro cuisine as well as cultural dancing and a basket weaving demonstration.

Also, the promotion helped highlight CNMI’s three main islands, Saipan’s marine sports and shopping; Tinian’s casino; and Rota’s ecotourism and their very unique characteristics.

“We are extremely happy with the turnout and success of the event. It shows the positive working relationship that exists between MVA and Continental Airlines in our efforts to promote the CNMI to the Japan travel market and other market areas as well as a preferred travel destination of choice,” said MVA Managing Director Perry J. Tenorio.

The CNMI Delegation included MVA Board Chair David M. Sablan, other MVA Board Members, Florencio Guerrero, chairman of the House Committee on Commerce and Tourism and other members of the House of Representatives, representatives from the islands of Rota and Tinian, members of the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Japan-Saipan Travel Association president Ikuo Katayama.
