Inter-Government Basketball DCCA wins OT thriller over DPS-Fire
John Reyes hit of two free throws with .01 seconds remaining to tie the game at 68-68 and also blocked a shot with .07 seconds left in overtime to seal the victory for team DCCA, whom suited up only seven players.
DCCA led 19-8, before Fire started a second quarter run to take a 21-19 lead and led 32-30 at the half.
FIRE maintained it’s lead through out the game before Reyes’ heroics sent the game into overtime, most coming via the free throw line.
In overtime, FIRE managed only two points, as silky smooth Tony Rogolifoi and Ando Benavente scored the final 6 points of the game.
Top Performers for DCCA are: John Reyes with 30 points, 7 steals, 6 rebounds and 3 assists; Ando Benavente with 28 points, 13 rebounds; and Tony Rogolifoi with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
DPS Fire made a good fight with Larry Norita’s 17 points and 3 rebounds; Alvin Pua’s 14 points and 16 rebounds; and Jack Tudela’s 11 points and 15 rebounds
DLRS 61, DPW 51
In the earlier game, the Department of Land Registration & Survey got their first victory of the season over the Department of Public Works, 61-51.
Led by Steve Rasa’s (26 points, 16 rebounds) performance, DLRS got out to a quick lead and never looked back to claim their 1st victory of the season, while DPW dropped their second straight.
DLRS grabbed victory through the sterling performance of Steve Rasa with 26 points and 16 rebounds; Jack Diaz who had 11 points and 3 blocks; and Oscar Masga who had 5 points and 13 rebounds.
DPW’s John Guerrero with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Peter Sablan with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals; and Dave Camacho who had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals made the game more intense and exciting.
DPS 83, DOLI 70
Abong Camacho’s inside game presence, proved too much for DOLI to handle, towering over the smaller DOLI players and scoring at will.
DPS jumped out to a 21 points lead, midway through the 3rd quarter led by Elias Saralu’s consecutive 3-pointers, before DOLI’s Sidro Tebuteb got hot, scoring 14 of his 22 points in the final quarter to cut DPS’ lead to 69-60. DPS then went inside to Camacho in the final minutes which proved to be the difference in the game.
Top Performers for DPS are: Abong Camacho with 22 points/14 rebounds/2 blocks; Elias Saralu with 19 points/3 assists; and Jesse Stol with 18 points/5 assists.
DOLI’s top performers are Sidro Tebuteb, 22 points/7 rebounds; Ponce Rasa, 11 points/4 rebounds/2 assists; and Tim Wesley, 11 points/4 rebounds.
CPA 97, DEQ 69
CPA went into a full group court trap and took advantage of DEQ’s lack og height and speed to break open a close game. DEQ led for most of the 3 quarters before they lost their two big men, Dennis Camacho and Jay Morisheta to injury and foul trouble, and CPA taking full advantage of the loss. CPA gets it’s 1st victory and DEQ drops it’s second in a row.
Performances by CPA’s Jerome Reyes with 34 points, 4 assists, 3 steals; Darcy Maratita with 19 points, 4 rebounds; and Charlie Sablan with 12 points, 12 rebounds assured victory for the team.
DEQ put up a good match with Dennis Camacho’s 21 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks; Jay Morisheta’s 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks and Kevin Castro’s 11 points and 4 rebounds.
