Youth Congress salutes proponents

The 3rd CNMI Youth Congress on Saturday passed a resolution commending several groups and individuals for their part in coordinating the election and inauguration of 22 new youth senators last October 2000.

Youth leaders extended their gratitude to the late Jesus R. Mafnas, proponent of the legislation that created the Youth Congress which was signed into law during the 8th CNMI Legislature under Governor Larry Deleon Guerrero.

Former congresswoman Ana S. Teregeyo was also recognized for her hand in two sets of initiatives that amended and clarified the functions of the Youth Congress.

The Legislative Bureau staff, Legislative member aides, and the Youth Congress clerk Nancy Sanchez were also congratulated for their contributions in bringing to life the vision of the first, second, and ongoing Youth Congress organization.

In the resolution, the Youth Congress also congratulated Mrs. Susana T. Mafnas, Speaker Benigno R. Fitial, Senate President Paul Manglona, Mr. Walter Macaranas, Mr. Mike Evangelista, Mr. Jesus Sn. Lizama, and other individuals for their hard work and dedication in conducting and facilitating the Youth Congress polls.
