Car accidents meet new year

The Department of Public Safety yesterday reported four auto vehicle accidents three days before the end of 2000.

On Dec. 29 at around 6:44 pm, Chun Lee was driving his four-door Mitsubishi Sedan and traveling South at the inner southbound lane when his vehicle was hit by a 1988 Nissan car driven by Soliman Ingal in front of Mobil Gas Station in Susupe.

According to DPS spokesperson Rose Ada, Mr. Ingal stepped on his brake when the vehicle skidded, entered the inner bound lane and struck the vehicle of Mr. Lee.

Both drivers sustained knee injuries in the crash.

On Dec. 30 at around 4 am, Eric Kani was driving on Airport Road when he lost control of his vehicle which was southbound and struck at CUC pole near Herman’s Bakery. He was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and was charged with driving under the influence.

On Dec. 30 at around 12:40 pm, a white Toyota pickup truck driven by Mariana Ilal was about to make a left turn to McDonald’s when a van driven by John Tudong hit her vehicle.

Due to the impact of the crash, Ms. Ilal hit another vehicle driven by Alex Espanto. Ms. Ilal was brought to CHC for laceration on the chin and Mr. Tudong was admitted for head injury.

On Dec. 31, at around 12:37 am, Nestor Manalo was driving a four-door Sedan on the southbound lane when another vehicle, a 1998 Hyundai Sedan heading north driven by Aurelio Rayong entered the southbound lane and collided with Mr. Manalo’s vehicle.

Mr. Rayong entered a private property, hit a tree and hit a house. He was arrested for fleeing the scene of a crash, DUI and reckless driving.
