Power outage in Garapan tomorrow
The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has scheduled a power outage for Garapan tomorrow, March 17, from 6:30am to 9:30am.
The areas affected include Garapan areas of The Promenade St., Country House Restaurant, Plumeria Av., Ginger Av., Palm St., Fiesta Resort and Spa, Hyatt Regency, Victoria Hotel to DPS Fire Station, American Memorial Park Amphitheatre and Museum, Industrial Dr., Smiling Cove Marina. Puerto Rico: Shell and Mobil Fuel Farms, Saipan Shipping Co., CPA, Kaiser Cement Factory, and Fish and Wildlife office.
The purpose of the outage is to allow the power distribution line crews to work on the electrical primary lines safely as they perform maintenance and repairs on the feeder 2, second partial electrical circuit.
The line crew will replace rusted pole top pins and other deteriorated pole hardware along with replacing a rotted primary power pole on Industrial Drive near the U.S. Army Reserve Facility. In addition, another crew will be clearing vegetation from the primary lines near the Smiling Cove Marina through the American Memorial Park Grounds.
CUC power division will continue to schedule additional power interruptions over the next few months as they continue performing systems maintenance on other feeder circuits throughout the island.
