The public is invited to a presentation by retired Lt. Gen. Lawrence F. Snowden at 1pm today at the Visitors Center Theater of the American Memorial Park

Snowden will discuss his memories of the World War II battles for Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima and field questions from the audience.

He will be joined by Pam Marvin, widow of the late actor Lee Marvin, who was also a Saipan combat veteran.

Snowden enlisted in the Marine Corps just after Pearl Harbor and was commissioned a second lieutenant in July 1942. He subsequently fought in some of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific Theater as a platoon and company commander.

In addition to World War II, Snowden also served in Korea and Vietnam and concluded his military career as chief of staff of Marine Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

This event is a part of the Northern Marianas Humanities Council’s Community Lecture Series. It is open to the public and free of charge.
