TakeCare/FHP has joined the roster of title sponsors for the 2012 Marianas March Against Cancer, donating $3,000 for the event that will be held on April 27 to 28 at the Hopwood Jr. High School field in Chalan Piao.
Staffers of the healthcare company led by clinic supervisor Nora Sablan presented the check donation and the registration fee for Team TakeCare/FHP to MMAC committee members at their clinic in TSL Plaza in Garapan on Wednesday.
This is the fifth consecutive year that TakeCare/FHP is sponsoring the event, including the dinner banquet for cancer survivors on the night of the event. Sablan commended the MMAC committee for their efforts to make the event happen each year.
“As a cancer survivor myself, I’m grateful for all their hard work every year to make the Marianas March Against Cancer event happen,” she said. “Considering this is a volunteer-led event, what they’re doing is really a great thing.”
Sablan, who is also part of the MMAC survivors committee, urged all cancer survivors to come out and be a part of this year’s celebration by calling 235-0994 to 98 to register.
Also attending Wednesday’s donation was CCA board member Maggie Camacho, who said that they “greatly appreciate the continued support” of TakeCare/FHP to MMAC.
“Their in-kind and monetary donation allows CCA to be able to assist the cancer population, whether it’s the survivors or the caregivers. We hope that we may see more companies like TakeCare/FHP to come out and help combat the disease,” she said.
Catherine Attao-Toves, overall event committee chair, described TakeCare/FHP as “key supporters” of MMAC and this year’s sponsorship is “looking really good.”
“I’m speechless.Times are hard but our regular sponsors really do care about the community,” she said.
Attao-Toves added that luminaries and t-shirts are now available for sale at the CCA office in Gualo Rai.
