Local reservist promoted to captain

Franklin Reyes Babauta was promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. His military career began in 1988 while attending the University of Guam with the Reserve Officer’s Training Corp. (ROTC) and was commissioned as a second lieutenant upon graduation in 1991.

He completed his Infantry Officer’s Basic Course (IOBC) in 1992 at Fort Benning, Georgia. He is currently assigned to 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry, and holds the position of company commander E. The 100th Bn has units in Hawaii, Guam, Saipan, and American Samoa.

Prior to his assignment as company commander, he was the platoon leader for Company E, 442nd (Sep) Infantry. He recently came back from Malaysia after attending “Operation Kris Strike,” a peace-keeping mission.

He is the son of Jesus M. Bamives of Saipan. He is married to Celina Roberto Babauta and has four children.
