Nearly 50 participants met for a friendly confrontation between government and the private sector in a Goodwill Golf Tournament with the Saipan Garment Manufacturers Association (SGMA) and the CNMI Department of Labor and Immigration (DOLI) this past Saturday at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort.

Goodwill prevailed as both sides scored easily and a double Peoria scoring system eliminated the always present sandbagging. A barbecue at Dr. Jack’s Bar and Grill afterward featured an award ceremony and promises to do it again.

Finishers were as follows:

1st place Masaaki Nakamura (DOLI) Net 61

2nd place Frank Ada (SGMA) Net 63.4

3rd place Mr. Min (SGMA) Net 65.4

4th place Andrew Clayton (DOLI) Net 66

5th place Bill Jones (SGMA) Net 66.4

6th place Tony Taisacan (SGMA) Net 66.8

7th place Joe Salas (SGMA) Net 67.4

Low Gross Richard Pierce (SGMA) Gross 84

Franklin Camacho, age 13, won the “Up and Comer Award” as he kept up his streak of beating his elders with a gross 93, net 70 score.
