United and FHB continue credit card program in 2012
GUAM-United Airlines, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Continental Holdings, Inc. said yesterday that First Hawaiian Bank and United will continue offering the existing credit card program in Guam, formerly known as the Continental Airlines OnePass credit card program, which will be represented by a new “MileagePlus” branded credit card.
The United MileagePlus credit card offers benefits including one mile rewarded for each dollar spent in net purchases, double miles on United ticket purchases, and no expiration or annual cap on miles earned, as long as there is activity in the account.
Applications for the new United MileagePlus credit card are available in all First Hawaiian Bank branches on Guam and Saipan. Existing customers who have a Continental Airlines OnePass credit card from First Hawaiian Bank will have their cards replaced with the new United MileagePlus credit card during April and May 2012. There will be no disruption of service for these customers.
“We are pleased to announce that First Hawaiian Bank and United will continue to jointly offer a credit card under United’s MileagePlus brand. We are equally happy to continue working with First Hawaiian Bank in providing our customers with quality travel services on Guam,” said Barry Bergmann, United’s managing director of Micronesia and Southeast Asia. “Customers on Guam will be able to enjoy our expanded route network with United and its partners in the Star Alliance, as well as have a choice to redeem accumulated miles for more than 1,185 destinations in 185 countries.”
“First Hawaiian Bank is proud to welcome United Airlines to our valuable credit card program in Micronesia” according to Laura Dacanay, First Hawaiian Bank Guam and CNMI region manager. “We are pleased to offer our customers a credit card with greater flexibility, which is associated with a program that will provide more travel destinations, making it the region’s premier credit card program with the world’s most rewarding loyalty program.”
Launched in 1981, MileagePlus received the 2011 Frequent Traveler Award for Best Elite-Level Program and the Best Frequent Flyer Program from Global Traveler magazine for the eighth consecutive year. (PR)
