It is no other than Max I. Castro that was crowned the “SGA King” last Saturday as the Saipan Golfers Association held the monthly qualifying tournament on Aug. 26 at the Laolao Bay West Course. Castro now qualifies to compete on the annual SGA Tournament of Champions in December.

Castro shot 46 in the front and 41 in the back to come in with a net score of 75 to secure the win. Castro’s handicap is 12.

SGA president Ray Diaz shot the best net score of the day, shooting 41 in the front and 39 in the back for a total gross score of 80 with a net at 71. Ray has a handicap of 9.

Second place winner was awarded to Judge “Mr. Consistent” Edward Manibusan, SGA’s most consistent player. Manibusan shot a good solid round of 75 gross for the day at 38 in the front and 37 in the back and 3 over par.

The third place winner was Brian Reyes who shot 39 in the front and 38 in the back. Both Manibusan and Reyes have an identical handicap of 3 for the SGA Club.

In the closest to the pin contest, Reyes won hole no. 3, Joe Kamikaze was best at hole no. 7, and Manibusan dominated the last 2 par 3, holes no. 13 and 17.

All winners in all category received prizes for their performance. Diaz, Manibusan and Brian are already monthly champs and will compete in the annual December SGA Tournament of Champions.
