Acting Coastal Management Resources Director Jack Salas has ordered Hyung Jin Saipan Inc. to stop the construction of its staff house for 510 employees due to its failure to comply with necessary environmental requirements.

Although Hyung Jin has been given a permit to begin construction work of its barracks, CRM is still asking the firm to comply with the permitting process.

The company has failed to submit an earth and erosion control plan which should be approved by the Division of Environmental Quality. A sewerline capacity analysis must also be submitted to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and the Division of Environmental Quality, according to CRM.

Mr. Salas met with the company officials and asked them to produce the documents for evaluation by the CRM board.
