NMI’s outstanding employers to be honored in banquet
In an effort to support local businesses that employ members of the National Guard and Reserve, the Guam-CNMI Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve will hold its 3rd Annual Employer Awards Banquet on Saturday, March 17, at 6pm, cocktails begin at 5pm, in the Royal Taga Ballroom of the Saipan World Resort.
This event, themed “We all Serve,” is a celebration of employers in the CNMI.
ESGR is a Department of Defense agency, established in 1972, under the auspices of the Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain active support from all public and private employers for the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law, and resolving conflicts between employers and service members.
“This is our chance to say ‘thank you’ to the public and private businesses that support our local men and women in uniform,” said Foundation for Employers president Paul D. Leon Guerrero, whose organization is sponsoring this event. “When those moms and dads, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters get called to duty to serve our country, their mind needs to be on their mission-not worrying about losing their jobs while they’re away.”
By law, employers must hold jobs for men and women who serve in the Guard and Reserve when they get called to duty. This allows service members to focus on the mission so they can safely return back home. The banquet will honor outstanding and supportive employers and their service member-employees.
“Our goal is to show those devoted employers a night of fun while maintaining active support from public and private sector employers,” Leon Guerrero said. “They are true patriots and they also serve!”
About 100 attendees-employers, community leaders, and service members-are expected to attend this invitation-only banquet. (ESGR)
