The Department of Public Health is planning to extend clinic hours in San Antonio village to accommodate working mothers in the community, according to acting Public Health Secretary Ned Arriola.

Currently, clinic hours begin at 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It may be extended until 8:00 p.m. to allow mothers to avail of the basic health services, which include pre-natal care and immunization.

This developed as the department is presently applying for Federal 330 grant to be able to begin construction of a health center in Kagman. Mr. Arriola noted the growth of the population in Kagman as the biggest factor considered in planning for the establishment of a health center there.

Since the opening of San Antonio health center on March 28, 2000, residents have been regularly seeking medical care such as immunization, blood pressure, blood sugar check, OB Gyn/Pap Smear test and breast examination. An OB-Gyne and pediatrician are assigned in San Antonio clinic plus a nurse.

In CHC, DPH had a clinic opened in the emergency room to serve patients who have had to endure the long wait in the emergency room especially when doctors are busy attending to more critical cases.

There has been a delay in extending the hospital’s service due to lack of nurses and doctors.

Service at the clinic in San Antonio is provided also to residents of at Koblerville, Dandan, Oleai , Susupe, Fina Sisu, Chalan Kanoa and As Per Dido.
