Hong Kong businessman Sunny Chan, also known as Chan King Man, has pled not guilty to charges of seven counts of theft by deception filed by the Attorney General’s Office.

Mr. Chan, president of Jade Garden, issued seven company checks from Dec. 16, 1996 to May 7, 1999 to allegedly pay for food supplies bought from Winpark Industrial Co., a firm that has closed shop in 1994. Sources said Mr. Chan used to be the owner of Winpark Industrial, a company based in Hong Kong.

Based on the information filed by Assistant Attorney General Marvin J. Williams, the Chinese businessman issued seven checks under the name of Jade Garden for expenses incurred from Winpark which was no longer in business on the date the billings were made.
