Five members of the Saipan Banking Association recently joined forces in competition to support the Northern Mariana Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Each bank held a bake sale with the proceeds going to the Red Cross, but there was a catch.
The banks competed against each other with the losers having to do various things such as wash the opposing bank manager’s car or wear the opposing bank’s logo T-shirt for a day.

In total $2,669.76 was raised to continue the services of the Red Cross to the local community. The banks finished in the following order with Union Bank of California being first, then Bank of Hawaii, Bank of Saipan, Hongkong Shanghai Bank and finally City Trust Bank.

“We really appreciate the support of the banks and their enthusiasm in promoting others to support the Red Cross as well. Our deepest thanks go to the staff members from each bank and to the customers as well that supported the sale. We look forward to having this event annually”, said executive director Cassandra Ely.
