Essay contest for high school students

The Women’s Affairs Office, with the assistance of the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture, is holding an essay contest in celebration of CNMI Women’s Month. The theme of the essay contest is “The Role of Indigenous Women in the Year 2000 and Beyond.”

The essay competition is open to all CNMI students in 7th through 12th grade. One essay per student may be submitted. Essays must be between 800 and 1,000 words long, printed or typed double-spaced. It should include the student’s name, grade, teacher, school, address and contact number.

Deadline for the submission of essays is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2000. All essays must be delivered to the Arts Council Office located next to the Capitol Hill Post Office. Late essays will not be accepted.

First, second and third prizes will be awarded, as well as. five honorable mention prizes and certificates for the schools.
