A federal grand jury handed down an indictment yesterday on Mariano Mendiola Camacho for possession of a stolen weapon, according to U.S. Assistant Attorney Dave Wood.

The 9 mm semi-automatic pistol was taken from Phil Litulumar, an employee of the Division of Customs, as he lay unconscious after a car accident on Oct. 10, 1999 in As Matuis.

Mr. Camacho was at the site of the accident at that time. When first asked about the missing service weapon, Mr. Camacho denied any knowledge about the handgun. Later on, he admitted taking it from the car.
