Woman found dead on Tinian

Police discovered the remains of an unidentified woman at 5:10 a.m. yesterday at the northern area of the old West Tinian airport.

Department of Public Safety Information Officer Rose Ada said Tinian police received a call about a missing female employee of the Tinian Dynasty and Hotel at about 10:20 a.m. Friday.

Ms. Ada said the woman could not be immediately identified since her head was already decomposing when discovered. A mortician from Guam is expected to arrive on the island-municipality soon to perform an autopsy.

Police refused to release the woman’s identity pending investigation, but sources from Tinian said that the woman, believed to be Chinese, was a victim of rape.
