The Commonwealth’s chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the CNMI’s professional personnel organization, will be holding its monthly membership meeting this Thursday, Feb. 10, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Rik Villegas, acting director of the Business Development Center at the Northern Marianas College, will be the special guest speaker at this month’s meeting. Mr. Villegas will discuss the five strategic dimensions of a business plan that every organization should focus on to optimize their efforts. His discussion will place special emphasis on the dimension of professional development, as a matter of particular HR interest, and why it is vital for an organization to continually develop its staff.

This program will provide CNMI SHRM members with an excellent opportunity to review the role that HR plays in an organization’s business plan and the importance of professional development.

Non-members in the business community, whether owners, managers or human resource staff, are invited to learn more about the Society and improve their human resource knowledge through the presentation and discussion.

Charter membership meetings are not limited to members. Prospective members and companies or individuals interested in the discussion topic are invited to attend. This week’s luncheon meeting will be held at the Giovanni’s Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 11: 30 a.m. on Thursday. The cost for the luncheon is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for non-members.

Members and others interested in attending this luncheon discussion should contact Rheta or Liz at the Hyatt Regency Human Resource Office with telephone number 234-1234 or fax number 233-0182, for reservation.
