Chamber to hold membership meeting

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce announced yesterday that its first general membership meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Giovanni’s Restaurant.
The topics for the meeting will include an introduction of Chamber committee activities for the year 2000, a presentation by the Census 2000 planning group, and the introduction of the Chamber’s own investment guide and membership directory.
The Chamber announced its committee chairman for the year 2000:
• Membership Committee – Chamber president Lynn Knight of Sunset Advertising Group.
• Events Committee – Board member Tony Mosley of GTE Pacifica.
• Government Relations Committee – Co-chairs David Wiseman, Esq. and Richard Pierce of SGMA and Safety First.
• Beautification Committee – Board Member Jay Jones of Triple J Motors.
• Education Committee – Tony Pellegrino of Pelly Enterprises.
The Chamber will welcome the following new members to the organization at the general membership meeting this week: Allied International Insurance Services, Bufton & Riley Enterprises, the Law Office of Eason & Halsell, FAS Moving & Storage Co., Island Surety Associates, Marianas Eye Institute, Marianas Psychiatric Services, the
Refuse Collectors Association, and the Law Office of White, Pierce, Mailman & Nutting.
The Chamber also announced two other meetings for this week: The Government Relations Committee of the Chamber will meet at 12:00 p.m. today, Feb. 8 at the Diamond Chinese Restaurant in Garapan. The meeting is open to all interested Chamber members.
On Friday, the chamber will hold a workshop presented by member Island Surety Associates called, “Understanding the Bonding Industry and Bonding Requirements in the CNMI.” The workshop will be held at the Rey Lounge of the Aqua Resort Club from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. The cost is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.

The general membership meeting on Wednesday is open to all Chamber members. Guests may join the meeting for a cost of $15 per person. Reservations are recommended.
