Defenders 17, Spec 7
Jerome “Milton” Delos Santos went 4 for 4 with a triple, a homerun, and five RBIs, and Manny Sablan hit two two-run homers as the CK Defenders upset on Sunday the defending champions Pepsi Spec in the first game, 17-7.
Santos’ three-run homer and Sablan’s two-run shot highlighted the Defenders 10-run first inning rally to take the lead for good, 10-2, after one inning of play.
Three costly errors by Spec in the bottom of the fifth allowed the Defenders to score four runs, including the game ending run when Delos Santos went all the way home on Spec’s third error of the inning. The win improved the Defenders’ record to 9-7 and dropped Spec to 7-6.
In other games, Team Peleliu behind Poland Masaharu’s two homeruns with five RBIs and Randy Mobel, Dominic Remeilik, and Carney Mobel’s three RBIs with a homerun each ended the Jet’s 12 game winning streak with a 24-19 marathon victory in the second slowpitch game of the day.
Trailing 17-7 after 3 1/2 innings of play, Team Peleliu then jumped started their offense to tie the game up at 17-all with six runs in the bottom of the third and four in the fourth before pulling away for good with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth for an upset. After dropping their first three games of the season, the
Jets bounced back winning their next 12 games before finally losing for the fourth time in 16 outings. The win is Peleliu’s sixth in 14 games. Peter Sablan hammered out three homeruns and Nick D. Guerrero two in a losing effort.
In the third game of the day, Julian Camacho went 3 for 3 with a homerun and Alex and Ben Camacho each hit one out to lead Team Fadang to a fifth inning, 12-2 shut-out over the, Laly 4. Fadang jumped on top 6-0 after one inning of play and never looked back the rest of the way. The victory improved Fadang’s record to 5-9. and dropped Laly 4 to 1-13.
Tony C. Camacho went 4 for 5 with a double and two homeruns, including a grandslam, and Patrick F. Camacho ripped two out as the Camacho Roots stopped the Power Factor in the fifth by virtue of the ten-run-rule, 28-13 shut-out in the final game of the day.
The win is Roots’ 13th in 15 games and remained half a game behind league leader Ngeaur Comets (13-1) for the regular season pennant.
The loss dropped Power Factor to 10-5. Power Factor’s Martin Gloyd hit his league leading 21 homeruns of the season, a three-run blast in the, top of the second that temporarily gave the Factor the lead 9-7.
