Health and Safety Course

The Northern Mariana Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross has scheduled the following Health and Safety courses for the month of February.

Families and businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to help prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Courses are offered for a minimum fee and are open to anyone.

Saturday, Feb. 12 HIV-Starter Facts 9am-1pm

Tuesday, Feb. 15 Adult CPR 6pm-10pm

Thursday, Feb. 17 First Aid Basics 6pm-10pm

Saturday, Feb. 19 HIV Facts Practice 9am-1pm

Instructor Session 2pm-5pm

Saturday, Feb. 26 Instructor Session 8am-5pm

Start your own business

Is your New Year’s resolution to go into business keeping you up at night? Are you looking for answers to your questions to determine if this is your calling? If it is, look no further. The Northern Marianas College Small Business Development Centers monthly free-to-the-public “Start Your Own Business!” workshop begins again on
Wednesday, Feb. 9th at the Center’s Conference Room (Building T). Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and light refreshments will also be available. The workshop begins promptly at 6:00 p.m.

The purpose of the workshop is to present to entrepreneurs what services the SBDC provides and the importance of business planning.

According to staff business consultant, Dirk Sharer, “We had solid participation when we implemented the once-a-month program last year and expect attendance to be strong again this year. Moreover, we’ve added follow-on programs, such as “Business Plan for Success” to assist the attendees prepare a business plan that they can bank on.”

Seating is limited to 10 attendees so everyone can participate and share in the idea generation process to make their business dreams a reality.
