Superior Court Judge Timothy Bellas yesterday ordered the release of Police Officer Edwin Santos Aguon who was accused of burglary and theft on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Police officers who searched the residence of Mr. Aguon last Dec. 7, discovered kitchenwares, pots, pans, meat grinder, meat slicer, pizza slicer, tables, chairs and computer — all belonging to Rudolpho’s Restaurant. This led to the arrest of Mr. Aguon, who has been with DPS for five years now.

During the bail hearing, Mr. Aguon’s father Joaquin, 58, a retired police officer, denied any knowledge that the items in their residence were stolen from Rudolpho’s. They both live in the same house.

Chief Criminal Prosecutor Kevin Lynch hinted that Mr. Aguon’s father had knowledge of his son’s criminal activity but chose to ignore it. “If Joaquin Aguon opened his eyes, then he would have known that his house was filled with stolen property,” he said.
