Backhoe hits worker

Nepalese Magar Tarak Budha, 29, sustained serious injuries on the chest when a backhoe hit him while he was marking a road surface last week in Achugao.

Based on the preliminary traffic report, a backhoe shoveling waste material at the residence of Carl Reyes was backing up along the shoulder of a north-bound lane when it struck the victim.

The victim sustained fractured pelvic bones and three broken ribs on his right side. He is being treated at the ICU of the Commonwealth Health Center.

Arrests

• Sung Jong Park, 25, at 1:11 a.m. for speeding, reckless driving, DUI and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test.

• Antonio Babauta Castro, 30, at 3:18 a.m. for reckless driving, speeding and DUI.

• Ross Hugh S. Manglona, 23, at 6:25 p.m. for child abuse.

ARRESTS

• Simon Kapileo, 59, at 7:04 p.m. for reckless driving and DUI.

• Benri Simon John, 33, at 7: 52 p.m. for disturbing the peace and assault and battery.

• Rodney Villanueva Cabrera, 22, for disturbing the peace and assault and battery.
