Grace Christian Academy hosts parenting seminar

Grace Christian Academy is hosting a seminar called “Courageous Parenting Seminar” on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at the GCA auditorium from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Sponsored by SAFE (Sexual Abstinence & Family Education) Inc., a Montana-based non-profit educational organization founded in 1993 by Gary and Laura Lee Swant, the seminar hopes to actively promote the facilitating of parents to take responsibility for their children’s sex education.

The Swants have conducted over 350 school and community presentations in the last four years. Gary Swant has written numerous curriculums, including Teen Sexuality Today, and most recently, Worth the Wait Parent Guide, published articles for professional journals, and taught various graduate courses.

The seminar will include topics such as the parent factor, teen sexuality, high risk groups, advantages of abstinence and others.

The seminar is open to parents and is available on a first-come-first-served basis due to time constraints. A two-day presentation will be held for GCA junior and senior high students called “Teen Sexuality in the 90s” on Dec.. 9th and 10th.
