Project WET Y2K picture contest
Draw us a picture and your work of art may be included in the 2000 calendar and distributed all over the CNMI. Prizes will be given to the winners.
Pick your category, or draw a picture, turn in your picture to your school’s Project WET facilitator. The facilitator will select the best 15 pictures and forward them to the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation. No entry fee.
Theme # 1: Saving and Reclaiming Water – Your picture should show how to save water, capture rainwater, and other methods to conserve water for our daily use. You may want to draw how you can re-use the water from your air conditioner, the used water from the kitchen sink, laundry, etc., draw a picture showing that people care to save water.
Theme #2: Ground Water Protection – Your picture should show how we can better manage our limited water resources and protect our environment. Your picture should show proper disposal of chemicals, hazardous material containers, automobile oil or fluids, gasoline, household cleaning products, cooking oil, etc. You may want to draw a farm with animals kept far away from the streams and ponds to avoid polluting the water.
Project WET presentations will be made at your school on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Official Rules:
– This picture contest will be open to 4th, 5th and 6th graders only. A minimum of 14 pictures will be selected for the calendar
– Use regular 81/2 x 11 white copy bond/typing paper
– Use crayons, markers, paints etc. (no chalk)
– Print name, age, grade level, and telephone number on back of picture
– Turn in pictures to your school’s Project WET Facilitator three days after the presentation. The facilitator will select the best 15 pictures and send them to CUC four days after the presentation
– Deadline is Nov. 10, 1999 for schools not visited by our representatives
– We reserve the right to make factual corrections and reprint the winning pictures.
