CRM to go online
The Coastal Resources Management will soon be joining the information superhighway with the expected completion of its website in the middle of November.
According to John Jordan, manager of the Geographic Information System, prospective investors will have access to information about their future projects since the website will feature the regulations of the agency and permits for major and minor projects.
“Permit applications can be printed on the internet which saves them the time to go to the office just to get the forms,” said Jordan.
At the same time, best management practices will be featured including the newly-completed CNMI Environmental Sensitivity Index Map and Saipan Watershed Atlas, which was done in 1997.
The ESI atlas will assist the Northern Marianas officials, specifically planners, in dealing with oil spills. It also shows key biological resources — birds, fish, mollusks, mammals, reptiles and amphibians and coral reef areas — that are most likely at risk in the event of an oil spill.
Readers will get information on the latest projects of the director such as the shoreline erosion monitoring and schedules of public hearing.
Jordan said the website will be constantly updated to meet the needs of CRM. (LFR)
