Red Cross raises funds for disaster

The American Red Cross collects funds today for the victims of Taiwan earthquake.

The fund-raising activity, which is also being coordinated by the Police Academy cadets, will be held at the Microl intersection.

The American Red Cross also said that all funds collected from the coin boxes around island from now through the end of October will be for the American Red Cross Disaster Response Fund to help victims of Hurricane Floyd and other disasters.

NMC Student Council inauguration today

The newly elected officers of the Northern Marianas College student council will be sworn in by NMC Board Chairman Ramon G. Villagomez at 12:00 pm today.

The ceremony will be held at Building J of NMC campus on Saipan.

The newly elected Student Council officers for School Year 1999-2000 are Christi Omengebar, president; Shevorine Santos, vice president; Lizelle Torres, secretary; Vanessa Mobel, Treasurer; and Evelyns Elewel, public information officer.

Everyone is invited to attend and witness the ceremony.

Anti-domestic violence activities

The Family Violence Task Force is inviting all human resource managers to a session called “Tips for Managers,” which is slated today from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

The session is part of the National End to Work Domestic Violence Day and will focus on addressing domestic and family violence issues in the workplace.

This session is open to the public.

The task force is inviting the public to join the kick-off motorcade which starts at 8:30 am tomorrow at the Civic Center (in front of the 4-H Building).

Tour the island with the Family Violence Task Force to spread the word that help is available.
