SPORTS BRIEFS Clinics for coaches, referees
The Oceania Basketball Confederation will again be sending Stuart Manwaring from Australia to conduct basketball certification courses in refereeing and coaching on Saipan, Tinian and Rota during the month of October.
Application forms to attend any or all courses can be picked up from Tony Rogolofoi at the Ada gym. Pre-registration is required.
Clinics for coaching will he held on Saipan from Oct. 2nd to Oct. 9th in the evening except weekends which be conducted in the morning.
The referee clinic will be on Oct. 11-17, and sessions will be held in the evening, but weekend clinics will be held daytime.
Stuart will be on Tinian October 18-22 and on Rota October 25-28. There will also be a Junior Development Camp on the weekend of October 23 -24 for selected junior players who register to participate.
All PSS Basketball coaches and referees are encouraged to attend the sessions.

Swim lessons and try-outs
The Saipan Swim Club will be conducting Red Cross certified swimming lessons beginning Sept. 11th, and will continue through Oct. 9th from 7:30 am to 8:30 am every Saturday only at the Kan Pacific swimming pool.
Classes will be held for children and adults from the age of 6 years and older. There will be both beginning and advanced classes given during this session.
Pre-registration is required by calling the following numbers and giving the name, age and swimming level. Call Jean at 234-6323, Bill at 234-1002, or Jess at 322-5226. The cost for lessons is $30.00 for the session.
Try-outs for the Saipan Swim Club Team will be held on Sept. 1st, 3rd and 8th only, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Kan Pacific swimming pool. Swimmers must be able to swim, have reached level 6 by American Red Cross standards, and must be 8 years old at least.
