A public information meeting will be held on Aug. 19, 1999, at 7:00 pm at the Garapan Elementary School to discuss the Solid Waste Management Program for Saipan.

The primary purpose of the meeting is to present information about proposed transfer sites. Other items to be presented are the overall project components, funding sources for infrastructure and operations, and current status of the project’s implementation.

The Division of Solid Waste Management is in the final process of site selection for the new transfer station and would like to receive input from the community on which location would be preferable.

All proposed sites will be reviewed and the rationale for selection of the final two sites will be presented. Information handouts will be available at the meeting. Information obtained form this meeting will be compiled and presented with other input received from Saipan community and business leaders to the Governor’s Solid Waste Task Force.
