Another suspect falls in Strange stabbing
Edgar V. Jamison, wanted by police for questioning in the stabbing and robbery of businessman Ernest Strangem, surrendered Early Saturday to authorities and admitted committing the crime.
Jamison, a Filipino contract worker, is facing charges of assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, robbery, theft of a vehicle and theft.
Presiding Judge Edward Manibusan imposed a bail of $25,000 cash for his temporary release.
The suspect, an auto electrician, told the court that he was terminated after his reported involvement in the Strange case. Public defender Wes Bogdan was named as his legal counsel, while a Filipino interpreter was asked to translate the proceedings.
According to the media release issued by the Department of Public Safety, the items that were missing inside the stolen vehicle were recovered behind the Saipan International Airport and along a along the cross-island road in Papago.
Police officers were able to retrieve those items after questioning Jamison last Saturday.
His companion, Norberto J. Simpas, was rounded up by police operatives Thursday afternoon in connection with the robbery-stabbing incident in Joeten Chalan Piao.
Two men reportedly attacked Strange, owner of Club Jama, and used the victim’s van as a getaway vehicle. They left the victim with deep wounds.
Strange was flown to Guam for further medical treatment. He is still recuperating at one of Guam’s hospitals.
Accounts from a number of witnesses have helped police officers identify the two suspects a few days after the incident.
