It’s election time Benavente’s candidacy backed
The Republican Party committee for Precinct II has endorsed the candidacy of House Speaker Diego T. Benavente and Rep. Oscar M. Babauta who are seeking re-election for the House of Representatives in the November polls.
In a letter to Commonwealth Republican Party chair Benigno R. Fitial, Precinct II club chair Francisco S. Palacios recommended the two incumbents for party support during the midterm elections.
Two House seats are at stake for the Saipan district of Chalan Kanoa and Susupe, and GOP members in the area have thrown support behind Benavente and Babauta.
They were chosen by club officers and members after a meeting last January 22 in which both legislators expressed intent to seek re-election.
“We graciously accepted the unconditional support of our precinct club members for their wide variety of continuous support and guidance,” Benavente and Babauta said in a joint letter to Palacios.
“Further, it is our fervent hope, that together with the precinct club’s endorsement, we will once again serve our people to the best of our abilities,” they added.
All 18 seats at the House are up for grabs in the November balloting, while there are three Senate seats for voting, one each for the three senatorial districts on Saipan, Rota and Tinian. B. Saladores
