A’s tied with Red Sox in Majors, 10-10

(Walter Cepeda Sutherland)  The Triple J Wholesale San Vicente A’s rallied from a five-run deficit to the Bank of Saipan Red Sox only to have its rival come back from the dead in the final inning to send the nail biter into bonus innings as Saipan Little League’s 2012 Major Division continued at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.

The 10-10 game will be resumed at a later date.

In other Major League results, the Rep. Jospeh P. Guerrero Dandan Comets defeated the Attorney Robert T. Torres Law Offices’ Kagman Little Legals, 7-1, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile over at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield, the Junior League’s DPS Dare Program Leep Enforcers pummeled the DYS Kagman Lions, 13-3, in five innings last Sunday and the Senior League’s Natibu Tanapag Falcons bested the Rep. Antonio Sablan-Rep. Eliceo D. Cabrera Hunters, 7-3, on Tuesday.

MAJOR LEAGUE

Comets 7, Little Legals 1

The Little Legals boarded its first batter on and around in the opening frame, but only managed four runners in the remaining four innings of the contest.

The Comets on the other hand broke ahead, 5-0, in the third inning off a string of four hits, scoring runs with from a pair of RBI singles by Aurel Mendiola, a two-RBI base rip by Larenzo Sebaklim, a wild pitch and an error. Austin Hocog later bagged an RBI base hit as the Comets batted around its lineup.

The Comets then went on to add an insurance run in the fourth and fifth frames.

Winning pitcher Mendiola gave up one earned run off three hits with a walk and seven strikeouts in four innings. He also batted 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs.

A’s 10, Red Sox 10 (suspended)

The Red Sox led it 8-3 after three innings, but the A’s rallied back to pull ahead, 10-8, in the top of the fourth.

The Red Sox broke the ice with five runs in the opening frame with patience at the plate and a pair of timely RBI singles by Chabo Leon Guerrero and Ryan Aguon. Aguon later stole home.

The Sox then added three more runs in the second inning off a pair of doubles by Leon Guerreo and Delin Ruesora. Tindin Leon Guerrero later stole another dish in the uprising.

The A’s managed three runs to start the third innings off four hits, including an RBI base knock by Antonio Muna and a two-RBI double by Rayvic Tudela.

The A’s then turned the tables on the Sox, 10-8, in the top of the fourth with seven runs off six hits. Christian Lizama belted a two-RBI double, Muna another RBI single, and Myles Santos lifted a sacrifice fly.

Red Sox’s Jode Reyes led off the bottom frame with a hit and made it all the way around to make it a one-run game and his teammate Chabo Lizama drove in Ruesora in the last inning of regulation to tie it at 10-apiece.

By umpire-decision the match was suspended until further notice due to time constraints.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

Enforcers 13, Lions 3

The Enforcers took a swift 3-0 lead in the opening frame off four early walks that set up a two-RBI base smash for Truman Shiro. However, the Lions escaped the inning with the bases loaded.

The Enforcers then uncorked a seven-run splash in the third inning off five hits mixed with some timely inconsistencies in the field by the Lions defense. Enforcers’ Darion Jones bagged an RBI triple and teammate P.J. Sablan poked an RBI single.

The Lions only answered with one run in the bottom frame and was kept pretty tame for the remainder of the contest.

Both teams traded a pair of runs in the fourth inning and the Falcons added the run needed for the early decision in the top of the fifth inning when Cedric Camacho drew a walk and later stole home. Enforcers closer Caleb Takao struck out the side in the final stand.

The Lions have some bugs to get out after issuing eight free passes in the game that were sprinkled in with some extra throws around the infield.

SENIOR LEAGUE

Falcons 7, Hunters 3

The Falcons held a solid 6-0 chokehold on the Hunters after two innings. Tallying four runs in the opening frame off some early jitters on the mound complemented by an RBI double by Ricky Riungel and an RBI single by Frankie Norita. Two other runs came home off balks and an error.

The Falcons then added two more runs in the second frame from an error and a passed ball, but the Hunters fired back with a two runs to close the third inning. Nate Sablan hammered an RBI single.

The Hunters only managed one more run in the bottom of the fourth, which the Falcons got back in the ensuing frame.

Winning pitcher Joe Lizama gave up zero earned runs and no hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

Falcons’ Riungel batted 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run, while Raymond Saralu swung 2-for-3 with a base on balls.
