Assistant Attorney General Marvin J. Williams yesterday filed charges of theft and misconduct in public office against an immigration officer.

Peter Anthony Maratita, 22, from San Antonio was called to appear in court on Monday to respond to allegation that he took $100 from a certain Yong Kee Kwak.

The alleged theft was said to have taken place on Aug. 7 while Maratita was doing his duty as an inspector for the Department of Labor and Immigration.

Williams did not elaborate on the incident.

In a separate case, a former resident department head at the Department of Commerce on Rota was also ordered to appear in court on Jan. 8, 1999.

Williams filed a two-count information against Glenn H. Manglona, 34, for failure to file a report of financial interest between May 1 and May 31, 1995 and from May 1 to May 31, 1997.

Documents showed that Manglona’s position required an annual filing of a report of financial interests with the Office of the Public Auditor.
