Ex-convict also allegedly stole other items worth $36K from Pretty Tour
Aside from stealing an FJ Cruiser during a burglary at Pretty Tour Car Rental in Garapan, ex-convict Roland Hernandez Muña also stole from the shop a 31-inch flat screen television and other items, according to the Office of the Attorney General.
Assistant attorney general Heather P. Barcinas stated in the first amended information that Muña also stole a cell phone, MiFi, Italy sunglasses, and several keys for car rentals and apartment rentals with an estimated total value at $36,000.
Aside from one count of burglary and one count of theft, the OAG also charged Muña with one count of resisting arrest for running away when two law enforcement officers tried to handcuff him on July 5.
At a status conference yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho set the jury trial for Oct. 23, 2014, at 9am.
The government, through Barcinas, offered a plea agreement to Muña yesterday but assistant public defender Matthew Meyer, counsel for Muña, said it is still early in the case to discuss plea agreements.
Muna, 25, remains in jail after failing to post a $50,000 cash bail.
According to police, John Deleon Guerrero was arrested on July 1 and he admitted that he was with Muña when the latter burglarized Pretty Tour Car Rental office on the evening of June 30, 2014.
Police said surveillance cameras at two nearby establishments corroborated Deleon Guerrero’s statements.
Deleon Guerrero has yet to be taken to court as police are still doing further investigation. (Ferdie de la Torre)
