Federal agents arrested yesterday a man who was allegedly engaged in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan last year.

Zhaosheng Zeng was arrested after a sealed indictment was filed in federal court on July 22. The indictment was unsealed yesterday afternoon following Zeng’s arrest.

The indictment charged Zeng with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and three counts of distribution of methamphetamine.

According to the indictment, from May 9, 2013, through June 19, 2013, Zeng intentionally conspired with persons to distribute “ice.”

Zeng also allegedly intentionally distributed “ice” on May 9, 16, and 19, 2013.

At a hearing yesterday afternoon, Zeng, who appeared with court-appointed counsel David Banes, pleaded not guilty of all charges.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona set the jury trial for Oct. 6, 2014.

A detention hearing will be conducted on Friday at 9am.

Zeng was remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
