NMI Crime Stoppers Program coordinator Jason Tarkong said that the program has received “good tips” in connection with the killing of bartender Emerita “Emie” Romero.
In an interview last week, Tarkong said that Crime Stoppers got “good tips” and that those information were forwarded to the Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.
In a news briefing on Friday, Tarkong underscored the importance of the public’s participation in sharing information that will lead to the identification and arrest of Romero’s killer.
The cash reward for any information leading to an arrest in this case has now reached $22,000, including the Crime Stoppers’ $1,000.
On Friday, Public Safety Commissioner Ramon C. Mafnas disclosed that authorities have identified a “person of interest” in Romero’s killing.
Mafnas said that DPS and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are currently investigating the activities and events associated with this “person of interest.”
Romero was last seen alive boarding a green or blue tinted sedan around 3am on Feb. 5 near her residence in Garapan. FBI agents found her body two days later during a search in the northernmost building of the former La Fiesta Mall in San Roque. Romero’s body was flown to the Philippines last week.
