Diley, Llawson join Rotary Club
Ilmov is Rotarian of the Year
The Rotary Club of Saipan inducted two new members, Mike Diley of iConnect and Hobbs Llawson of the American Samoa Rotary Club, last Tuesday during the civic group’s induction ceremony at the Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret.
Diley said that he had been on Saipan for 10 years and that he looks forward to working with the Rotarians on Saipan on projects that will help make the community a better place.

Llawson said he was on Saipan from 2000 to 2003 with Bank of Hawaii and is currently with the bank again.
Llawson was with BOH for 17 and half years at its the Western and South Pacific branches.
“I started with the BOH in 1996 and managed commercial lending offices in Pohnpei and Kosrae, and came here to Saipan, then to Palau, moved to American Samoa, and then back to Saipan,” Llawson said.
Llawson said it was the first time for his family to be on Saipan.
“We are very happy to be here and I am happy to be a member of the Rotary Club of Saipan. I am third generation Rotarian in my family and my grandfather started in Honolulu, including my father,” Llawson said.
During the ceremony, awards were given as well to many Rotarians for their virtues and services to the club.
Ivan Ilmov was presented with the most prestigious award, the Rotarian of the Year plum.
In his remarks, Ilmov said he was happy and was grateful in being chosen for the award but each member “is really important, it is all about teamwork.” He remembered what member Dave Sablan earlier told him—that the Rotary does not give money but gives what is needed.
The event was also the first time the Rotaract Club of Northern Marianas College and Interact Club for Marianas High School attended a Rotary Club induction.
“This is the first time they have attended our induction ceremony and are our future Rotarians,” said Cody.
Ilmov said he is happy to have the younger generation starting to think about the future of the community.
“It is an honor to have such young members join our induction ceremony and experience the Rotary Club in our ceremony. They are our future,” Boyer said.
